Walking to the Jubilee Tower on Moel Fammau 1,500 times - The final ascent will take place Friday August 31st 2007 on what would have been Roy’s 75th birthday.  To support our research programme into Lung Cancer in Liverpool, David Snowdon-Jones is making the effort for the love of Roy Castle, and needs your support.

For the Love of Roy

2007 Special - The 1,500th ascent of Moel Fammau in aid of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation -  Will you help?

Over the many years passed, David has taken numerous walking parties into Snowdonia and the Clwydian Hills and hopes to meet up with many friends on the day.

So the countdown of just 1 to reach his goal!

A book “For the Love of Roy” will be available at the Cherry Pie Inn, Melyn-y-Wern to invite so many people to donate, sponsor, whatever to assist our research programme in Liverpool. The research centre bears the name Roy, an epitaph for his life of doing good and his service to mankind.

How it all started :

In 1995 on his 65th birthday, seeking another challenge for the purpose of raising money for Roy’s cancer research Charity, David decided to walk 500 times to the Jubilee Tower on Moel Fammau before his 70th birthday. However, the total of 500 was achieved by his 68th birthday so the challenge was changed to 1,000. This figure was reached by his 70th Birthday, Millennium year 2000 and raised many thousands of pounds. And so it was decided another 500, to now make 1,500, to be reached by his 80th birthday in May 2010. By November 2006, 1,400 was reached leaving the countdown of 100 to go!

The “marathon” culminated in the final walk (No. 1,500) to the Jubilee Tower on Moel Fammau on Friday 31st August 2007 which would have been Roy's 75th birthday.

On behalf of the cause I should be glad to receive any donation you feel you can make, however small. In this way we can all be part of the cure - if only for the sake of our children. Thank you in anticipation.
